I oiled mine (JES) for the first time two days ago. I was a little more than 200 hours in and things just didn't feel right when adjusting it. It also squeaked, bound up, and was just becoming an uncomfortable experience. So I put a drop of oil in each spring chamber, took the adjusting screws out and put a drop on each thread. After I put it all back together, I worked the springs a bunch, ran the screws back and forth, and wiped everything down real good to clean up any excess.

Now, it feels better than when I first got it. The action is incredibly smooth and the device feels ten-times better. I think it was way past it's regular maintenance period and tensions were much higher than what I was reading on the bars. I learned my lesson on the importance of maintaining my gear.

Since I was too lazy to go downstairs for the 3-in-1 oil, I just used oil that came with some hair clippers and it did a good job.

What do you recommended to lube the spring assembly with specifically? I don't want to ruin it.

Curious to why you would lubricate the device? Does it help the spring assembly?

Cranking on the thumb wheels screws causes friction and some thread wear, a drop of just about any lubricating oil will lubricate the threads to be easier to twist the thumb wheels.
