Lunexia Sometimes sleep apnea is treated successfully with mouth guards or other oral devices. The reason for this is that jaws vary in shape and size, and some configurations may cause narrowing of the airways. Using corrective devices to ensure the jaw is properly aligned while sleeping can help increase air intake. The true meaning of sleep apnea is not having enough oxygen as one sleeps. So anyone who has sleep apnea shouldn't sleep at higher elevations. High elevations mean that your oxygen level will be lower and may cause your sleep apnea to be worse. If you can sleep at a lower elevation, you should do it.
