Meet Mary Lou Marzian: The Kentucky Lawmaker Who Wants to Make Men Need Permission from Their Wives for Viagra

viagra-mary-lou-marzianKentucky lawmaker Mary Lou Marzian is on a mission. A mission to make Viagra unavailable for married men looking to use it in order to have any kind of sex with anyone else but their wives. How does she intend to do that? By requiring what she calls a “signed note” from their wives stating her blessing as well as having these men sign a “sworn promise” that they would only use the drug with their wives.

Kentucky has only two abortion clinics and a population of 4.4 million which makes it difficult for women to access abortions. But it is a stretch to think that this would significantly lower the amount of abortions. It is not like this law affects anyone but married men. And to take a delicate subject like erectile dysfunction medicine and make a man have to get a permission slip from someone, even their wife, to get medicine for it is the opposite of progressive.

These husbands are adults and have a right to seek help from ED without being treated like children. There are many men out there who take viagra and other ED drugs without even telling their wives just to maintain a healthy love life with them. Why should they be penalized?

The bill does have some good elements to it though. It requires men to have two visits to their physician prior to getting a prescription for Viagra to ensure that the patient understand the ramifications and side effects of the drug.

At the end of the day, taking a drug like Viagra is an extremely personal matter and should only be between a man and his physician and no one else unless he chooses. Targeting Viagra to control abortion demand makes no sense at all. There is no concrete evidence that shows that Viagra is to blame for more women getting pregnant who then want abortions.

Sorry Mary Lou Marzian, but this bill you are trying to pass is nonsensical. If you really want to reduce the demand for abortions focus on educating people on sexual health. Don’t make getting help for ED harder than it already is. It is worth noting however, that judging by her voting history as a lawmaker, she really had no intention of trying to get the bill passed. Many believe that she just presented this bill as a sarcastic jab to display how ridiculous it is when government tries to intervene with women’s health issues.

So don’t worry guys, judging by the traction this bill is getting, it is not going anywhere!

One thing is certain, there are many men out there who could really benefit from an erectile dysfunction drug like Viagra who don’t even try and get a prescription from their doctors because they are ashamed or embarrassed. That is why you have so many over-the-counter organic ED treatment supplements like Sinrex Dual Synergy on the market that will never require a permission slip from your wife to take.
